Dear Third Grade Families,

HAPPY CATHOLIC SCHOOLS WEEK!

Reminders:

Native American: Students must have their tribe picked by tomorrow. Students need to have all their research material at school tomorrow. This will stay at school for the remainder of the project (if a book needs to be renewed students can bring the book home).

1 on 1: Please remember to bring in $1.00 on Monday for our friends in Uganda. Thank you for your generosity!

Reading Logs: Due on Friday.

Please look at the Holy Rosary website for the CSW schedule. Lots of fun things are going on this week. We are excited about celebrating our Catholic School! Here are some reminders for the week:

Tuesday: Jeans day

Service Day: Tomorrow we will be planting primroses outside our school. If your child could bring in a small shovel, it will make it easier for them to plant. Thanks!

Wednesday: Perfect Uniform

Grandparents’ Day: Grandparents’ lunch will be on Wednesday. Please see the website for specific details. I look forward to meeting the students’ grandparents.

Thursday: Perfect Uniform

Spelling Bee: Congratulations to Daniel and Kyrah who will be representing 3B in the spelling bee on Thursday. Good luck to you both! The spelling bee will take place in the school hall from 8:30-9:15.

Friday: African Safari Dress Theme day

We also have the spirit assembly and 8th grade vs. staff volleyball game.

This week:

Reading: This week we read a story called Technology Wins the Game. We focus on sequencing events in order.

Math: Students took the 10s tests today. Please make sure you are checking their check off sheet (in the math section) to see what facts they have passed. Retakes are on Tuesday at morning recess. We learn the 3s facts today and students will be tested on these next Monday.

We continue our study of fractions. This week we focus on equivalent fractions.

Science: This week we conduct an experiment on condensation.

Social Studies: Students learn about the Northwest Coast Native Americans.

Language Arts: Students learn how to take notes from resource materials.

Religion: We work on understanding the meaning of the Apostle’s Creed. A copy of this prayer came home on Friday. We will recite this prayer daily and students should practice it at home as well. They need to have this committed to memory by February 27th.

Spelling: There will be no spelling this week.

This Week’s Star: Blain

Next Week’s Star: Jake

Have a great week!!

Sincerely,
