Most of the slots are already filled. Thank you for your generosity!

Book Reports: The book report story wheels are due Friday. I can’t wait to see them!

Native American: Students must have their tribe picked by next Tuesday, January 27th. Please let me know if you have any questions about this.

We have a very busy week! Here is what we are working on:

Math: We take our 5s test today. We also learn our 10s facts this week. If your child doesn’t pass a fact test make sure you keep reviewing it with him or her so that he or she gets it the next time. Our make-up day is on Tuesdays during morning recess.

We continue in chapter 10 on fractions. This week we learn how to represent fractions on a number line.

Reading:  We read the story Tops and Bottoms in our reading book. Our study skill for the week is summarizing.  We learn that a summary is a few sentences that tell the main idea of a story or article.

Religion:

Students practice praying the “Apostles’ Creed.” We will continue the discussion on chapter 7. A copy of the Apostles Creed will be coming home on Friday.

Social Studies: We continue to work on our culture collage project. Students have researched the culture of a country and now will represent what they learned in a picture collage.

Science: Students work on graphing the weather. They begin an experiment on the first stage of the water cycle.

Language Arts: We continue to learn about how to take notes in preparation for our Native American project. We finish studying Martin Luther King Jr.

Spelling: No Spelling this week.

This week’s star: No Star

next week: Blain

Have a great week!!

Sincerely,

Erin Meland
