Newsletter for the week of April 13-17

April 13, 2015

Dear Parents,

Welcome back everyone! I hope you all had a very nice and relaxing spring break with your children. We are now in the homestretch! We will be busy, busy, busy!

Picture Day: Tomorrow is class picture day. Students need to be in perfect uniform. Please have your child bring in the picture form by tomorrow.

Poetry Homework: April is poetry month and third grade will be doing some special poetry activities. The assignment packet will come home on Wednesday. In this assignment students are asked to pick a poem (they have four to choose from) and complete 3 activities by this Thursday, April 23. The directions are on the “Poetry Menu” and the poems follow.

Bingo Bash:   Remember that students are invited to THIS FRIDAY’s Bingo Bash with the teachers. Many students have signed up, but if your child has not, this is the last opportunity. Attached is a flyer and permission slip that need to be turned into the school office no later than tomorrow, Tuesday, April 14th. We’re going to have a great time!!

Green Day: Friday we are asking students to wear green in honor of Father John.

Multiplication/Division: Students learned the 11 facts before break but will not be tested on them until next Monday, April 11th. This week is a great week for students to get caught up on the facts that they have not passed. Please see the check off sheet in your child’s filer. If you have any questions, please let me know.

This Week We Will Be Learning:

Reading: We begin reading out next novel: Ramona Quimby, Age 8. The students will learn about the author, Beverly Cleary, and read and discuss the first chapter.

Language Arts: We finish up our Earth Day project and begin our poetry unit.
