Dear Third Grade Parents and Students,

Reminders:

Special Summer Writing Fun: I would like to invite all third graders to participate in our Summer Fun Pen-Pal Program. It is a great way to keep in touch with friends from 3rd grade and practice writing skills. It’s always a big hit! I will send forms home today. If your child wants to participate the form needs to be turned in by Thursday, June 2nd.

50 States Test: Students will have their final state test next Tuesday, May 31st. The test will cover all 50 states and the abbreviations. Students will be given the names of the states and will have to label them on a map and write the abbreviation as well. A study guide was sent home last week.

Reading Logs: The May reading log is due one from tomorrow (Due May 31st). This is the last log of the year! Please make sure your child is reading every night to advance their reading skills.

Book Fair: The Annual “Buy One Get One Free” book fair will be held in the

Library from Tuesday, May 31st to Friday, June 3rd. Come stock up on books for summer!

This week, we will be learning:

Math: Students take the assessment on area and perimeter this week. We begin chapter 14 on Geometry.

Reading: Students read chapter 7 and 8, focusing on character traits.

Language Arts: Students will finish their iMovie Book Reports.

Religion: 3rd Graders will be introduced to and pray the Liturgy of the Hours.

Science:  We finish our crabitat project!  This has been a challenging project to stay within a budget, plan, and build a habitat based on our research.  It was extra special to be able to test these habitats out and see what occurs when the crabs are in them!  Sometimes they liked what we thought they would and sometimes it didn’t work they way we imagined!

Social Studies: Students continue to learn about the history of the Space Needle.

Spelling: The spelling test will be on Thursday and the test will be on Friday.
