Dear Third Grade Parents and Students,

 

Reminders:

 

Please turn in Space needle field trip form if you haven’t yet J

 

State in the Box: State in the Box items and a shoebox are due Next Tuesday! This week students will bring home a list of items they want to include and also a list of pictures to print. If you do not have a printer at home, please email me a Word document with the pictures and I will print them at school.

 

States Test: Last week we completed our last small states test. The last test will be covering all 50 states. I will send home a study guide on May 19th, but it is always fantastic to begin studying earlier. The final 50 states test will be Tuesday, May 31st.

 

Talent Show: The talent show is one week from this Friday! The theme this year is 80’s Workout. Student’s are encouraged wear 80’s Workout attire to get into the spirit!

 

iMovie: Students need to continue reading for the iMovie report. The written form is due next Thursday, May 12th.

 

Field Day: Field day is on May 27th. This is a half-day of school and a lot of fun! Permission slips will come home in the next week or two.

 

This week, we will be learning:

Math: Students should continue to study their facts at home. I will send home a review sheet tonight. We will continue to do makeup tests on Mondays. We will be doing mixed review tests to keep the facts fresh in students’ minds throughout the next month. We also will begin chapter 13: Working on perimeter and area.

 

Reading: We finished chapter 3 today and will ready Chapter 4 starting tomorrow. We focus on vocabulary and find text evidence to support it.

 

Language Arts: Students will continue to work on Imovie book reports at home and will be working on their states projects in class this week.

 

Social Studies: Students continue to research their state in preparation for their State in the Box project.

 

Science:  We learn about hermit crab bodies and life cycles.  Students compare and contrast the life cycle of mammals and crustaceans.

 

Religion: This week, we practiced May Child today and will have our ceremony on Friday. On Friday, please have students bring: Rosary, Nice Clothes, and a Flower. Thank you!

 

Spelling: Homework is due on Thursday and the test is on Friday. The pattern this week is words with VCCV pattern.
