Newsletter for week of May 12-16

Dear Third Grade Parents and Students,

 

Reminders:

 

State in A Box: State in the Box items and a shoe box are due tomorrow!

 

Lunches of Love: Our first collection is this Wednesday. These can be perishable and are donated to our Parish food bank. Thank you for your support with this!

 

May Child: On Thursday, we celebrate Mary as a grade. We will pray the Rosary together in Church. Students need to dress in “Sunday best”, bring a Rosary and a flower.

 

iMovie Book Report: The written form is due this Thursday, May 15th. At this point, students should be finishing their book and working on the written form.

 

Field Trip: Permission slips were due today. If you have not turned that in, please do so ASAP.

 

Memorare Prayer:Continue to practice this with your child. Each child will need to have this memorized and recite it to me on or by Thursday, May 29th. If your child is ready to recite this prayer before May 29th, they can recite it to me after school.

 

Spanish Quiz:  There is a Spanish Quiz on Monday, May 19th.  This will be short and cover the “Payaso” adjectives and “Tener” expressions.  A study guide is posted on Mrs. Myers’ website:  https://gator.holyrosaryws.org/spanish/

 

Talent Show: Please join us for the HRS talent show, this Friday! The theme is “Hippie” and students are encouraged to dress in this theme.

 

Field Day: Field day is on May 23th. This is a half-day of school and a lot of fun! Permission slips will come home soon.

 

This week, we will be learning:

Math: Students took the 12s test today. We will continue to do makeup tests on Thursdays. We will be doing mixed review tests to keep the facts fresh in students’ minds throughout the next month. Keep studying those facts! We also continue to work on perimeter and area.

 

Reading: We read One Grain of Rice. Students work on comparison and contrast within the story.

 

Social Studies:Students continue to research their state in preparation for their State in the Box project.

 

Science: In small groups, students learn about and present information on various ecosystems: wetland, tundra, forest, ocean and desert.

 

Religion:We continue to learn about the Rosary and celebrate Mary this month.

 

Spelling:There is no spelling this week.
