Dear Third Grade Parents and Students,

 

 

iMovie Book Report: Last week, I sent home a rubric and assignment sheet explaining the iMovie book report. The written form is due Thursday, May 15th. We have discussed this in class. At this point, students should be reading the book that they will use for their report.

 

Memorare Prayer:Students learned new prayer last week, the Memorare. We will are saying it as our daily prayer in the morning. A copy of this prayer was sent home last week. Please practice this with your child. Each child will need to have this memorized and recite it to me on or by Thursday, May 29th. If your child is ready to recite this prayer before May 29th, they can recite it to me anytime before or after school or at a recess.

 

State in the Box: Items for the State in the box are due Tuesday, May 13th. Students also need to bring in an adult sized shoebox.

 

Field Trip News: 3rd grade will be going on a FUN and EDUCATIONAL trip to the Space Needle and to visit a Science Naturalist at Constellation Park

       Where: Space Needle/ Alki Beach

When: Friday, May 30th from 10:30-2:30

Who: 3A and 3B

 

 

Permission slips will go home today and need to be turned in by next Monday, May 12th. Thank you!

 

We will need parent chaperones to drive and help on the field trip. All volunteers need to have their SAFE Environment training and a background check on file in the office. There will be a section at the top of the permission slip asking if you can volunteer and howmany you can fit in your car. Once we know how many volunteers we have, we will let you know how much it will cost per adult. We will only be able to have 8 chaperones per classroom. Thank you!

Drama Elective-Cinderella: The 7th/8th Grade Drama Elective invites you to enjoy their fantastic rendition of Cinderella! 3rd grade will be watching the play at 9:30am on Wednesday.

 

Performances will also take place Wednesday, May 7th and Thursday, May 8th both at 7 pm in the School Hall. Tickets are free so bring as many friends/family members you’d like!

 

Lunches of Love: Next Wednesday, May 13th will be our first turn in day.

 

This week, we will be learning:

Math: Students took the 11’s test. Today students learn their 12’s facts. Please check the sheet in your child’s folder to make sure he or she is up to date with all of his facts.

 

Students will take an assessment on chapter 12 tomorrow. We then move on to chapter 13: Area and perimeter

 

Reading: Reading: We read Sam and the Lucky Money. The target skill we will be working on is setting.

 

Science: We learn about animals’ adaptations to their ecosystems.

 

Social Studies: We begin researching out states for the state in the box project.

 

Language Arts:We continue to work on using quotations correctly in our writing. This is a challenging concept for the students and they are working hard at improving their writing by adding dialogue!

 

Religion: We learn more about the Rosary and mysteries in preparation for our celebration of Mary on May 15th.

Spelling: Homework is due Thursday and the test is on Friday.
