Dear Third Grade Families,

Happy Catholic Schools Week!! It was great seeing some of you yesterday at the Open House. I hope everyone had a great weekend!

Reminders:

Reading Log: The January reading log is due Wednesday. The February reading log will come home Wednesday as well.

Lots of fun things are going on this week. We are excited about celebrating our Catholic School! Here are some reminders for the week:

Tuesday: Jeans day

Service Day: Tomorrow we will be planting primroses outside our school. If your child could bring in a small shovel, it will make it easier for them to plant. We also make sandwiches with our 7th grade buddies tomorrow.

Wednesday: Perfect Uniform

Grandparents’ Day: Grandparents’ lunch will be on Wednesday. Please see the website for specific details. I look forward to meeting the students’ grandparents. There will be no hot lunch, so please pack your child a lunch.

Thursday: Perfect Uniform

Spelling Bee: Congratulations to Griffin and Siobhan who will be representing 3B in the spelling bee on Thursday. Good luck to you both! The spelling bee will take place in the school hall from 8:30-9:15.

Friday: Pajama theme dress day

We also have the spirit assembly and 8th grade vs. staff volleyball game.

This week we will be learning about:

Reading: We continue with our Kamishabai Man. . This week students become Kamishabai men and women. They will pick a familiar fairytale to summarize, illustrate and perform for kindergarten and preschoolers.

Math: Students took the 4s fact tests today. They were introduced to the 5s and will be tested on them next Monday. We continue our study of fractions as well. This week we review unit fractions, equivalent fractions and play some fraction games.

Language Art: Students continue to work on their clothing paragraph. We focus on self-editing and writing good ending sentences.

Social Studies: Students learn the next section of states in their GeoJourney.

Spelling: There is no spelling this week.

This week’s star: Kallie

Next week: No star

Have a wonderful week!

Sincerely,
