Newsletter for the week of April 24-28

April 24, 2017

Dear Third Grade Parents and Students,

Welcome back everyone! I hope you all had a very nice and relaxing spring break with your children. We are now in the homestretch! We will be busy, busy, busy!

Reminders:

Class Pictures: Our class picture will be tomorrow Tuesday, April 25th. Students need to be in perfect uniform (white shirt and the Holy Rosary sweatshirt, sweater or vest) for these pictures.

 

Apostles Creed:

The Apostles’ Creed is one of the prayers that 3rd graders are asked to memorize.

They need to have this committed to memory by this Friday, April 28th and recite it to me for assessment on or anytime before that date. 

 

Wednesday Mass: We have Mass on Wednesday at 8:45 am, students need to be in perfect uniform.

 

Passion Book Reflection: The reflection is due tomorrow. I hope you enjoyed having your child share this special prject with you!

 

iMovie Book Report: Students will create the iMovie trailer in class. You can view some trailers from last year here: youtube.com/user/MrsMeland3B. This is a fun and engaging report! The written part of this report will be due Thursday, May 4th. Students brought this home with them the week before break.

State in the Box: Students need to bring items from home and a shoebox in order to create their project at school, all project creation and research is done at school. Items are due on Friday, May 12th.

This week we will be:

Reading: We continue reading Ramona Quimby. This week we read chapter 2 and talk about character traits.

Math: Students take their 12s facts test today. This was the last fact group students learn, however, they should continue to review their facts at home each night. We will have mixed review timed tests throughout the rest of the year to keep their skills sharp.

Students also work on collecting and graphing data using all of the graphs we have learned about and work on measuring to the nearest 1⁄2 inch.

 

Language Arts: This week we focus on Earth Day. Students learn about conservation and complete a project related to the book, The Lorax.

 

Science:  Students begin learning about force and motion through hands on experiments.

 

Social Studies: Students continue to do reasearch for the State in the Box Project.

 

Spelling: There will be no spelling this week.
