Dear Parents,

Reminders:

State in the Box project: We began our State in the box project last Friday. Each student picked a state to research and create a “state in the box” to demonstrate what they have learned. Students will research and make the project in class. There will be items that they need to bring from home. Please review the State in the box information sheet with your child tonight. Items will be due Tuesday, May 10th.

States Test: Last week we reviewed the last group of states for our Geojourney tests. Today I sent home a study guide for your child. The test is this Friday, April 29th.

Religion:This week we will talk about “The Acts of the Apostles” and start our discussion about “Mary and the Month of May”.

On Friday I will send home a form for your students and you to fill out. It is in preparation for May Child next week. Monday May 2nd the students will practice in Religion and Friday, May 6th, will be their May Child event.

iMovie Book Report: Tomorrow I will send home a rubric and assignment sheet explaining the iMovie book report. The written form is due Thursday, May 12th.

We will discuss this in class and students can start reading the book that they will use for their report.

Reading Logs: Please check in with your child about their reading log and about reading at least 20 minutes a night.

Field Trip News: 3rd grade will be going on a FUN and EDUCATIONAL trip to the Space Needle and to Alki Beach

Permission slips are coming home today and will be due next Monday, May 2nd.

I have five volunteers already, but we still have room for a few more parents to attend!

Reading: This week students work on cause and effect and continue to analyze characters using strong adjectives while reading Ramona Quimby chapter 3.

Language Arts:This week we will be creating their Passion Book Easter Eggs and we will be presenting with our Kindergarten and 1st grade buddies at the end of the week.

Math:Students took the 3’s test today. We will continue to do mixed review tests throughout the next few weeks. If you child has not passed a fact (or facts) it is important that the make the test(s) up. This week we are going to wrap up Chapter 12: Represent and Interpret data and will have the exam near the end of the week.

Science: Students will learn about how adaptations help animals survive in certain habitats. They will experiment with oil on feathers and “blubber” in cold water.

Social Studies: At the end last week, we are going to begin our “State-in-a-box” project. Over the next few weeks, your student will be researching a state of their choice. Further more, our last states (tour 8-Northeastern Region) test will be this Friday, April 29th.

Homework is due on Thursday and the test will be on
